Lang, lang geleden tijdens een muziekles op de middelbare school, in 1981, vond de toenmalige muziekdocent het van belang om de popmuziek van die tijd in perspectief te plaatsen. Muziek hoefde zich niet te beperken tot een minuut of drie en kon ook zeker inhoud bieden. Terwijl one-hit-wonder Ph.D., met in feite grootheden als Simon Philips op drums, Tony Hymas op toetsen en Jim Diamond een hit scoorde met I Won't Let You Down, zette hij de tijd stil en speelde andere muziek af op de aanwezige platenspeler.
