Na 1999 en Sign “O” The Times is Diamonds And Pearls het derde Prince-album dat een uitgave als zogenaamde ‘super deluxe edition’ krijgt. Dat betekent naast een remaster van het originele album en (een selectie van) b-kantjes ook een berg aan niet eerder uitgebracht studiomateriaal en enkele live-opnames. Diamonds And Pearls uit 1991 is een album dat niet bepaald de geschiedenis is ingegaan als ‘klassieker’. Het is weliswaar een van Prince’ meest verkochte albums aller tijden en (destijds) grote hits als Cream en Gett Off zal iedereen kennen. Maar vraag een willekeurig persoon om een lijstje met Prince-klassiekers te maken en hooguit de titeltrack van het album zal er her...
