Chloë and the Next 20th Century is het vijfde album van Father John Misty (Josh Tillman) en de opvolger van het alweer vier jaar oude God’s Favorite Customer. Traditiegetrouw werkte Tillman weer samen met producer/multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Wilson. Het album klinkt echter weer anders dan zijn voorgangers en dat komt voor een flink deel door de weldadige, klassieke arrangementen van Drew Erickson. De songs klinken dus nóg rijker dan ze vaak al deden bij Father John Misty. Chloë and the Next 20th Century kwam tot stand in Californië (onder meer in de klassieke United Recording Studio op Sunset Boulevard) en dat is te horen. Vooral door de strijkers en het koperwerk...
